707 an experiment in being church

CONNECT : GROW : ENGAGE

At 7:07pm every Sunday beginning September 30 we will gather at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church for a Communion service.

CONNECT:

This worshiping community will be an experiment, something different than any church you’ve seen, yet with roots in ancient tradition.  We will gather to celebrate Communion: the feast celebrated since the beginning of the Christian movement.  Surrounded by candles, icons, incense, and good music, we will connect with word, sacrament, and one another.

GROW:

Every week we will engage in the words of scripture which encourage us to live in a way that brings about a different world.  Through praying with one another we seek to grow into the people we were created to be.

ENGAGE:

The worshiping community has traditionally been a place where Christians come to encourage each other as they engage in ministry in the world.  Each week we will find strength in prayer and fellowship to go out and be the church we want to see in the world.

Other Ways We Worship

The Labyrinth

Occasionally we bring a portable Labyrinth to campus.  The Labyrinth is an ancient Christian Spiritual tool.  As one walks the circuits of the Labyrinth she or he meditates on life and her spiritual journey.  "I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found out, was really going in." John Muir (quoted by Burton Christie) in Weavings

Informal Worship

Frequently we might gather for praise in the grass, or surfing and meditative prayer in La Jolla Cove.  We will post more opportunities as the school year gets under way.  Check back with us on the website or add yourself to our list by emailing us page to stay informed.
